The Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP) is the largest community-based theatre in the country and a cultural cornerstone locally and regionally. For more than a century, the theatre has brought top-level entertainment to the stage, ignited creativity through arts education, and welcomed hundreds of thousands of artists, volunteers, and audience members, who call Omaha home. The theatre features two performance spaces, the Hawks Mainstage, a 560-seat proscenium style theatre, and the 200-seat Howard Drew, a flexible Black Box. OCP is known for its high caliber production values comparable to a professional theatre and education and outreach programming. OCP’s Shirlee and Henry Fonda Theatre Academy offers classes and workshops for elementary ages through adults. Its mobile sensory theater serves neurodivergent audiences and is one of the only offerings of its kind in the nation. The Playhouse is a beloved gem in the city of Omaha, creating theatre by the community for the community.
