His performance earned him the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and a Grammy Award as a principal soloist on the original cast recording.\nA multifaceted performer across stage\, film\, television\, and music\, Odom has also received Academy Award\, Emmy\, BAFTA\, Golden Globe\, and Screen Actors Guild nominations. He earned widespread acclaim—and multiple award nominations—for his portrayal of Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami…\, for which he also co-wrote and performed the Oscar-nominated song “Speak Now.” Most recently\, Odom returned to Broadway to star in and co-produce Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch\, which opened to critical acclaim in September 2023.
