Join the Institute for Policy and Social Research for our September 2026 research luncheon! Lunch will be provided. Please email ipsr@ku.edu if you would like to attend. Let us know if you require any accommodations or have any dietary restrictions. The Kansas Statistical Abstract in Practice Zach Mohr, professor, School of Public Affairs and Administration Xan Wedel, senior research data engineer, Institute for Policy & Social Research Join us for this special edition of IPSR’s monthly research luncheons, in which we will hear from two KU researchers about how they use the Kansas Statistical Abstract in their teaching and research. For 60 years, the Kansas Statistical Abstract has provided an easy-to-access source of economic, demographic, and environmental data that provides valuable insights into the state for policymakers, communities, and researchers. Xan Wedel will provide a brief introduction and history of the KSA, and Zach Mohr will share how he uses state and local data available for teaching students about policy and statistics. IPSR is a research center supporting social scientists who focus on social problems and policy-relevant questions. Our monthly research luncheons provide a space for affiliated faculty and staff researchers to share their own ongoing work with the KU community.
